Channel sounding expert joining WiDeS as PostDoc:

Dr. Aki Karttunen, who recently received his PhD from Aalto University  (former Helsinki University of Technology) in Finland, will be joining WiDeS to work on various aspects of channel sounding, including electro-optical signal transport. WiDeS welcomes its new member!

Summer is here!

The semester has passed quickly, finals are over, and WiDeS is starting into the summer. A number of our students will be on internships, at such places as Bell Labs, Intel, and DoCoMo. Others will enjoy the possibility of concentrating on their research even more – plus some well-deserved vacations. From WiDeS to all of our affiliates and friends, best wishes for a good summer.

Fast and Accurate Synchronization in the “Blink” of an Eye (USC Press Release):
USC Viterbi Professors improve wireless clock synchronization accuracy tenfold London, June 9, 2015 –

A USC press release draws attention to one of WiDeS’ (in collaboration with Prof. Hashemi) significant research results: experimentally showing synchronization of wireless networks with nanosecond precision, and developing algorithms that allow scaling this result to very large networks.

Molisch gets research award from Viterbi school:

Every year, the Viterbi School of Engineering bestows the Award for Use-Inspired Research. This year, this prestigious honor went to WiDeS head Andy Molisch, for his contributions on multi-antenna systems and other work that has influenced international standardization and widely-used products.
