WiDeS presents at final VAWN workshop
Over the past 3 years, WiDeS has been sponsored by the Vide-Aware Wireless Network (VAWN) program funded by Intel, Cisco, and Verizon. In light of an anticipated two-orders-of-magnitude increase of wireless internet traffic, the program explored various avenues to increase throughput and improve the wireless user experience for video. The USC team, including the groups of Profs. Caire, Neely, Ortega, and Kuo, as well as WiDeS was concentrating on radically new architectures such as femto-caching and device-to-device communications. At the final workshop at Cisco in Silicon Valley, participants from various universities were presenting summaries of their results; Andy Molisch presented the work on device-to-device.
